We like to ghost in the lawn area on irrigation plans so we can see where a zone boundary is (and catch it when they change!). I remember seeing lawn hatches on a different layer sometimes, but I don't see how to make that happen. Is there any automatic way to make lawn go on a different layer? I guess we could make a special hatch that is on a different layer and always use that for lawn? Any other ideas?

Groundcovers assigned either the Stipple or Sand pattern will automatically be placed on the Turf layer.
You can also assign a layer suffix to a plant group for your turf:
