Is it possible to adjust the number of letters in a plant label? It seems 6 is too long and 2 isn't enough. Typically 3 or 4 letters works best and our office would like to see that as an option. For example, we would like to see GE_SP on our plans. Is that possible to customize?

Kortney,

We have had a couple requests for the GE SP option over the years. We've also received requests for T1 through T99 for Trees, S1 through S99 for Shrubs. We've even received a request for GEN spe and Gs, with the capitalization varying like that.
It is quite challenging assessing what is common enough to be added as a default option.
But regardless, every plant has a requirement of editing, in choosing the symbol, symbol width, size, remarks, and perhaps even modifying the common name to be more regionally accurate. Among that editing, setting the desired Code is a just one more minor step. The real power use of the software is then saving that plant list as a Template, and importing from there into future projects. In terms of efficiency, it's all about adding from templates and previous projects, instead of the master database.

That makes a lot of sense to me, appreciate the feedback! I am new to the software and in the early stages of setting it all up. I just came across the template webinar and it seems that is the way to go! Thanks again!

Thanks, Jeremiah! I understand that's an option, but there is no option to change the attributes to be automated like the defaults? I don't think it would be worth the inefficiency to change each plant. If not, that might just need to be a discussion with our team then.
Kortney,

We have two standard options in Preferences, GS and GEN SPE. But regardless of the Preference setting, when you edit each plant you can change the code to whatever you prefer.
