I will post another request for a native lfx to lumion plugin... but our workflow goes through sketchup first anyways.

Appareny best workflow is to replace plant components with nodes before going to lumion.  If you replace a skup tree Component in lumion, it will place a tree for every sub component in the tree.

It would be helpful for the lfx skup plugin to toggle all the plant components to components that have a single node.

Thanks!

Tim

I can make an icon for the magic button if that helps?

Hi Amanda,

Oh yes, very familiar with that video.  That is how we know to do the nodes.  Are you saying that you have automated that process in the LandFX plugin?  That process where I manually select each plant type, make a component, set the axis, save the file, open the file, replace the components in the master component, etc... then repeat for the other... oh... 100 plants?  That process.  Its awesome.  Is it automated yet?  ;)

Case Study - Ritz Carlton Resort Hotel in Paradise Valley

On this 19-acre parcel, we have approximately 105 species of trees/plants for a total of just under 12,000 plants.  All of this is nicely being handled in LandFX.  The client review process requires a lot of visuals, and the sales team loves videos.  You may say this is overkill... do we really need to show every plant... maybe not... but what percentage do we show... 60%?  Still a lot.

Here is a link to the video of the adjacent resort residential parcel, slightly smaller, but similar in detail/scale.  https://vimeo.com/314049927

In that video, we are still cutting back on details here and there... but that is still a lot of plants.  We did use the tip from Mike, and a few other things Britain (our designer that created the model) came up with.  Still a lot of work that seems like it could be automated.

I guess that is what I am actually requesting... since Lumion does not seem to have an API/SDK... is a magic button that automatically groups/sets axis/exports/replaces/sings/dances.

That's all... magic button please.

Thanks!

Tim

Tim,

Mike Brighman went through the node process in this webinar. Are you saying that this process doesn't actually work and is replacing every subcomponent with trees inside the component? Could you elaborate on which part of the process is not actually working as outlined in the webinar? Or, how is your ideal workflow different from what Mike outlined?
