Our Edit Equipment tool is valuable for reviewing the requirements of any piece of irrigation equipment, such as a head, valve, or any given length of pipe.
Metric performance data update (2022)
We've updated our irrigation performance data to port all metric data into its own separate database of values. This change will result in a dramatic improvement in the accuracy of flow and pressure data available to metric users. More information
Edit Equipment Overview
Open Edit Equipment:

You can also edit equipment (but not pipes) directly from the Irrigation Manager by highlighting the equipment and clicking Edit.
Editing or Viewing Information About a Pipe
To view information about a pipe you've already sized, select the pipe while the Edit Equipment / View Data tool is active. You'll then be able to see the size, flow, and pressure data assigned to the pipe. You can also upsize or downsize the pipe.
1. The type of pipe selected
2. The description of this pipe as it will appear in the Irrigation Schedule
3. The size of pipe at this location. This pull-down menu also allows you to change the pipe size by selecting from a list of other sizes. (Note: You won't see a size here if you haven't sized the lateral pipes in your drawing.)
4. The flow and pressure required for the pipe at this location
5. Click this button to review the Pipe Data, which includes the pipe class and other factors
Selecting a New Size for a Pipe
Use the Size pull-down menu to select a new size for the selected pipe.
Editing or Viewing Information About a Head
To view information about a head in your drawing, select the head while the Edit Equipment / View Data tool is active.
1. Editing the Model and Schedule Description will affect all heads in the same family as the selected head.
2. The description of the model that will appear in the Irrigation Schedule
3. Click the ... (Set Detail) button to assign a detail to this head.
4. Preview image of the symbol assigned to the head. Click this image to select a new symbol.
5. The current nozzle. This pull-down menu also offers a variety of nozzle options for this head. You can select another nozzle size for this head.
6. The flow and design pressure for this head
7. Click this button to review the Design Pressure that was selected when this head was added to the project. If you wish, you can select another design pressure for instances of this head throughout your drawing.
8. Click View Data to see more information about the head on the manufacturer's website.
Selecting a New Nozzle Option
You can select a new nozzle size for the head using the Size pull-down menu.
The nozzle size you select will only apply to the selected head – not its entire family.
Selecting a New Design Pressure
Click the Design Pressure button to adjust the design pressure for the selected equipment.
You'll now see a dialog box with options for all available design pressure rates for the selected head.
To select a new design pressure for the head, select a pressure option and click OK. The Design Pressure you select will be applied to all heads in the same family as the selected head.

Editing or Viewing Information about a Valve
To view information about a valve in your drawing, select the valve while the Edit Equipment / View Data tool is active.
1. The valve model
2. The description that will appear in the Irrigation Schedule
3. Click this button to Replace the valve with a different one, even from a different manufacturer.
4. Click this button to review the options for calling out this valve.
5. Click the ... (Set Detail) button to assign a detail to the valve.
6. Thumbnail image of the symbol assigned to this valve. Click this image to select a new symbol.
7. The size of the valve. You can review the size options and select a different size from this pull-down menu if necessary
8. The current flow and pressure required at this valve.
9. Click Analysis to open the Station Analysis dialog box for a breakdown of the various pressures and flows affecting this valve.
10. You can enter or edit the elevation difference from the Point of Connection (POC) to the valve in this field. This figure will affect the pressure requirements at the mainline.
11. Click View Data to see more information on the selected valve on the manufacturer's website.
Station Analysis
Click Analysis to open a Station Analysis of the valve.
The Station Analysis dialog box provides a breakdown of the various pressures and flows affecting the selected valve, including:
Design Pressure: This number is based on the equipment the particular valve is piped to. When you add equipment such as sprays, rotors, bubblers, drip, etc., you assign that equipment a design pressure at which you want that equipment to function.
Friction Loss: When sizing the zone, the system will account for all lengths of pipe with the given flow within each pipe and render losses per segment, showing a grand total of friction loss from valve to farthest head in that zone.
Fittings Loss: The amount of additional loss based on the slider in the Size Laterals dialog box.
Elevation Loss: If you've set an elevation to a zone manually when sizing OR if you've selected the Use Spot Elevations option when sizing a zone, the system will translate the elevation into its respective elevation loss.
Loss through Valve: Each valve has performance data assigned, based on the manufacturer's specs for that valve. Based on the total flow for that zone, the system will generate the respective loss for the specified valve.
PRESSURE REQUIRED: Total pressure that encompasses all losses from design pressure to loss through valve.
Pressure Required at POC: This number will only show up if you've sized your mainline. It reflects the PRESSURE REQUIRED (listed directly above this line) plus additional losses through the mainline path back to the POC, including any additional losses for mainline elevation, auxiliary equipment, and meter.
FLOW REQUIRED: Based on total flow generated when sizing the zone. Any equipment piped to that zone will be included.
Precipitation Rate: This value will only show up if the zone has been sized.

Need help troubleshooting a station's precipitation rate?
Water Velocity: This value, which is based on the Maximum Velocity slider setting and the Actual Velocity value listed in the Size Lateral Pipes dialog box, is used to allow the zone to size properly.
The Station Analysis is a reflection of a particular zone after it has been sized. If for some reason you feel that the numbers in the Station Analysis are not right, based on the equipment attached to said valve, resize your laterals to generate an updated snapshot of that zone.
Selecting a New Symbol

To select a new symbol for a head, valve, or other piece of equipment, click the preview thumbnail image in the Equipment Info dialog box.
You can then select a new symbol and click OK.
Troubleshooting: You Tried to Edit a Component, and Its Preview Thumbnail is Blank
You may have tried to edit a piece of irrigation equipment and found that its preview thumbnail is blank in the Edit Equipment dialog box.
If so, here's what to do.
Replacing a Head, Valve, or Other Equipment
The Replace feature, available in the Equipment Info dialog box, allows you to replace an existing head, valve, or other equipment in your drawing with a different model or series. Note that this tool replaces every instance of the selected equipment model in your drawing with the new model you select.
This tool will only replace the selected equipment with the same type of equipment. For example, you'll only be able to replace a head with another head using the Replace tool.
The Replace feature is not available for rotary heads.
To replace a piece of selected equipment, open the View Data / Edit Equipment tool and select the piece of equipment you'd like to replace.
Click the Replace button in the Equipment Info dialog box.
You can then select a manufacturer, series, and model for the new piece of equipment. The new model will take the place of all instances of the originally selected equipment throughout your drawing.
When you use the Replace feature for heads, it does not respect the radius reduction of the previously placed heads. Here's the workaround: After running Replace (which will update all the heads in the drawing), remove the new model from the project, and add it back. This time, you can set the radius reduction. As a result, when you place any new heads, they will be at the proper reduced radius.
Many users run the Replace tool unnecessarily. Keep in mind that you can edit the text and model of any piece of equipment directly, without the need to use Replace.

Troubleshooting
Issue: Error accessing equipment data in the project
Issue: You are unable to select a new symbol for a piece of irrigation equipment
Issue: You tried to edit an irrigation symbol block, and the thumbnail preview slide is blank
Issue: A placed Land F/X drip area hatch looks fragmented or isn't joined like it should be
