Error: The LAFX_Planting_Tag Could Not Be Loaded (Labeling Plants Using the Planting F/X for Revit® Plugin)
Issue
When trying to label or tag Planting F/X trees, shrubs, or groundcovers when using the Planting F/X plugin for Revit, you saw the error The LAFX_Planting_Tag could not be loaded
Cause
We introduced new default plant tag styles with an update in 2023, which required us to rename our families with numbers. We opted to maintain the same 01 to 15 numbering as the label styles in our AutoCAD plugin while also creating the same styles in Revit to match. We were unable to keep the LAFX_Planting_Tag file name, and opted to call that style LAFX_Planting_Tag16 instead.
Then in early 2024, we switched the Tag families to the primary Library folder instead of the install files, which would allow users to customize their tags without them being overwritten during plugin updates. As a result, an old preference originally set to LAFX_Planting_Tag would trigger this error because there is no longer a LAFX_Planting_Tag.rfa file to pull from LandFX.com into this new library folder location.
Solution
Open the Planting Preferences, open the Active Plant Tag menu, and change it to a style available in that list.
If you'd like to keep the same simple rectangle tag, select LAFX_Planting_Tag16.rfa. Otherwise, refer to our documentation on customizing plant labels in Revit to see what each style number looks like.
