You Placed a Tree or Shrub in 2D View in Revit®, but the Symbol Did Not Appear
Issue
You're placing your plants from the Plant Manager while working with our Planting F/X for Revit Plugin, but a preview doesn't appear. When you click to place the plant, the symbol family for the tree or shrub doesn't appear either.
You may also be seeing a warning pop-up in Revit indicating that none of the created elements are visible in your current view.
Cause
We've seen this issue occur when symbol was not actually assigned to the plant. In these cases, the user had been prompted to choose a symbol when placing a plant but had canceled the prompt, which was also canceling the command.
You may also be in a view that's hiding the Planting family category.
Because the default "Level 1" view in Revit's templates has Planting visibility unchecked in the Visibility/Graphic Overrides properties, our plants won't show unless you enable that option.
Solution
Step 1: Ensure the plant has a symbol selected.
Follow our steps to edit the plant, and double-check that a symbol is assigned to it.
Try placing the plant again after ensuring that it has a symbol assigned.
Does the plant already have a symbol assigned? Or did you assign it a symbol but you're still not seeing the plant after placing it? In either case, move on to the next step.
Step 2 (if necessary): Address a possible issue with the view you're currently using in Revit.
If the plant has a symbol assigned but you're still not seeing it when you place it, you're likely in a view that isn't allowing you to see placed plant symbols.
You have two options at this point:
Option 1: Switch to a view (such as Site) that has Planting selected in the Visibility/Graphic Overrides properties
In this example, we've selected Site view.
You'll see your placed plant symbols after switching your view.
Option 2: Select Planting visibility in the view you want to use
For this option, open the properties for the view you've chosen, then click the Edit button next to Visibility/Graphics to see which options are selected.
The Visibility/Graphic Overrides properties will open.
Ensure that the Planting option is selected.
Click OK to save the change.
