PolyDivide Error: Angle Specified Does Not Intersect Polygon Appropriately (Using the Polydivide Tool)
Issue
You tried to use our Polydivide tool to divide a closed polyline area or polygon, but the area failed to divide and you saw the following error:
Polydivide Error: angle specified does not intersect polygon appropriately
Cause
This error can occur because:
- The chosen angle of the divide crosses two separate portions of the hatch
- Your dividing line is not instersecting the polyline area or polygon correctly, or
- The dividing line or polyline or hatch are set at different elevations, or
Solution
1. Verify that the angle you've chosen for the divide is not crossing two separate portions of the hatch.
To correct this issue, choose a different angle or split the hatch (manually or using Polydivide) at a point that separates the two parts into two different hatches.
2. If the angle is not crossing two separate portions of the hatch, or if you've corrected that issue and you're still getting the error, check the elevations of the closed polyline or polygon and any hatch placed within it. They should all be set to 0.
To check and correct an object's elevation, select it and then type PROP in the Command line and press Enter.
The Properties panel will open. Check the Elevation setting for the selected object. If necessary, change this setting to 0 for the polyline area or polygon and internal hatch.
3. If the elevations are all set to 0 and you're still getting the error, fix the dividing line and polyline so they intersect each other correctly.
