Copy to Clipboard (COPYCLIP) Failed, or Command Not Working (Attempting to Copy and Paste Objects)
Issue
The Copy to Clipboard (COPYCLIP) command failed or is simply not working.
You may have also received a Copy to clipboard failed message when attempting to copy objects in your drawing.
Cause
The objects you attempted to copy may contain Proxy Objects, which are preventing the Copy command from working properly.
To prevent this issue in future drawings, always follow our steps to clean the main drawing and all Xrefs.
Solution
You can fix this issue by completing our drawing cleanup steps. However, note that:
- Our Nuke drawing cleanup tool deletes all Layout tabs from your drawing.
- You might also be on a deadline, or you simply don't want to follow all the cleanup steps on your drawing at this point.
- You might be attempting to complete our drawing cleanuo steps or use our Nuke tool, but you're still not able to copy to the clipboard.
For any of these reasons, you can use our Clean Export tool to create a new, clean file without Proxy Objects.
If you're still having trouble using COPYCLIP after using Clean Export, create a new drawing based on a standard drawing template (DWT), and use either the INSERT or CLASSICINSERT to insert the copy into that clean drawing.
