- Reference Note (RefNote) callouts
- Any site callout with text
- Detail leaders with text
- Plant labels
Solution
Are you seeing these errors while placing a RefNote callout inside a Work Area?
If so, check to ensure you didn't add an unnecessary quotation mark (") when setting the scale for your Work Area. In the example image, we can see two quotation markss in the Work Area title and in the Work Area dialog box when we edit the Work Area.
When entering the Work Area scale as an architectural scale, take care to avoid adding an unnecessary character.
For example, if you're scaling using inches, you don't need to add a quotation mark to show inches.
You can otherwise address this error by repairing the registry file associated with MLeaders and Work Areas.
First, download the AcRxClassName zip file linked below.
Clicking the link above will create a file named AcRxClassName.zip in the location where your downloads normally go, such as your Downloads folder or your desktop.
Locate this file, and double-click it.
You'll now see a folder named AcRxClassName. Open this folder.
Within that folder, you'll see several files with the .reg extension, as pictured below.
You'll need to have your file extensions enabled to see the .reg extensions at the ends of these file names.
Double-click the file that matches your version of AutoCAD or F/X CAD.
For example, if you have AutoCAD 2025, double-click the file 2025_patch.reg.
You should now be able to place MLeaders or Work Areas without seeing the error.
Still seeing the error?
If so, you may need to import the registry fix as an Administrator.
Open the Windows Start menu and search for REGEDIT. You'll see the Windows Registry Editor appear in the list. Right-click the Registry Editor entry and select Run as Administrator from the menu that opens.
In the Registry Editor, click File and select Import. Then navigate to the downloaded registry file and select it. It should report back that it was imported successfully.
Close the Windows Registry Editor, and restart your computer. Then try to replicate the error again.
