Updated Table Schedule Format: Difficulties Making Manual Edits
Issue
You're attempting to make manual edits to a schedule you've placed in our updated Table format, and you're having a hard time making those edits. For example, you may be having trouble:
- Adding text to the schedule, especially in the Detail column
- Adding blank cells to the table
- Simply having a hard time editing the table in general
If you're used to the old Drawing style and you've been tweaking your schedules manually after placing them, the updated table format is undoubtedly presenting some challenges. Although we understand the potential frustrations that might come with this update, please note that we have some specific reasons for formatting our schedules as tables.
Even more importantly, we're interested in why you're accustomed to editing schedules manually after placing them. If this is the case, we encourage you to reach out to us via a technical support ticket and let us know what you are trying to accomplish with these manual edits. We may be able to log your needs as a wishlist request and incorporate them into the software as new features in a future update.
Solution
Specific editing challenges:
Adding text to the schedule
If you're used to adding text to the schedule in the old Drawing format, you'll notice that you can no longer just explode the schedule, double-click into the MText, and easily navigate and type.
To add text to a schedule in table format, you'll need to double-click inside the cell you want to edit, but only when nothing else in the table is selected.
Adding blank lines to a cell
Here's a way to add blank lines to cells in a table schedule:
1. After exploding the schedule, click the table border to select the table.
2. Click again on the left edge of a row to select that row.
Then right-click the table edge.
3. Hover your mouse on the Rows option in the menu that opens.
You'll now see a sub-menu that includes the following options:
- Insert Above
- Insert Below
You can now select one of these options and insert your cells as needed.
