Power Tip: Make SketchUp Topography from F/X Spot Elevations
March 27, 2019
In this video, we cover a simple workflow to create a 3D terrain using Land F/X’s smart Spot Elevation callouts. We use the SketchUp extensions Guide Tools and Toposhaper to complete these quick steps, with the option of creating contours of your grading plan for exporting back to your 2D CAD drawing.
Find out more about the Spot Elevation tool and the 3D Connection Extension for SketchUp.
Grab the SketchUp Extensions featured in this video: Guide Tools by ThomThom, and TopoShaper by Fredo6.
Want to take the contours back to CAD? Change your SketchUp view to top view, parallel projection, and then export from SketchUp to a 2D or 3D .dwg file. Follow the SketchUp documentation for this step, and then either xref or insert as a block into your CAD drawing.
