When adding a reference note category that is associated with an AREA, and therefore a HATCH, would it be possible in that same dialog to select a layer that the hatch would go on? By default, all the hatches go on the LG-PATT-013M.
Here is the issue.... in our hardscape files, we may have upwards of 10 hatches... DG areas, 2 or 3 paver types, grey concrete, exposed agg concrete, etc. All of it goes on the same layer. Our hardscape file is referenced into other discipline files. Sometimes they want some hatches on, and other off. Sometimes, so do I.
I know that you can change the hatch pattern itself to go on a unique layer name... I know this because I accidentally did it, and now we have ONE oddball hatch pattern that goes on some weird layer. But I dont want to associate every hatch pattern with a unique layer name. I'd prefer to do it on a project by project basis, in the ref notes dialog, via a "layer" selection pull down. Similar to the one for ref notes associated with length.

This is already on the wishlist.
The tricky part, is that some users have expressed a desire to set the layer there, and have the system automatically tally the area of all polylines on the layer chosen. So we are trying to decide if the Layer setting there should give the user the ability to do either.
It is on the calendar for this year.

Awesome. Glad to hear its in the works. I'm open to other methods... I guess my goals would be the ability to put the hatches on separate layers, and still have it calc areas.

RefNote Hatches and Drip Hatches now respect the Layer setting for the hatch pattern.
So in your case it is not ideal, as it will affect all projects.
But I feel this is a better solution, with fewer things that can go wrong.
