Which applications and devices are incompatible or cause issues with the Autodesk Licensing Service?
Starting with version 2020, Autodesk products install with the Autodesk Licensing Service. The items listed below have been shown to cause issues with the Licensing Service when set to their default configurations.
Note that the Licensing service executables are saved in the following locations:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdskLicensing\Current\AdskLicensingService\
- C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Autodesk AdSSO
If you have any of the items listed below installed on your CAD workstation, you may be able to fix the issue by adding your Autodesk software, including the executable paths listed above, to that application's exception list. Otherwise, you may need to either shut down the conflicting device or application while using CAD or follow the solution corresponding to that item in the list below.

SecureIT
Solution: Uninstall. Shutting this product down doesn't resolve the issue, and Autodesk has been unable to verify the efficacy of adding the Autodesk product and executables to the exeption list.
SafeIP
Solution: Uninstall. This product offers no option to configure exceptions, and shutting it down won't fix the issue.
Astrill VPN
Solution: Disable. Otherwise, this product would interfere with the licensing process by blocking AdskLicensingInstHelper.exe tool registration and listing using ASProxy.dll.
Tumar CSP
Solution: Disable. The presence of this product causes the License manager is not functioning error in the CAD installation and the Requested service not available in the Autodesk Desktop App, and is incompatible with desktop licensing.
McAfee Endpoint Security
Solution: Unblock the port set in the file %ProgramData%\Autodesk\AdskLicensingService\AdskLicensingService.data on McAfee ES. Licensing SDK and AdskLicensingInstHelper can sometimes prevent the Licensing Service from functioning correctly, necessitating the unblocking step.
Acronis True Image
Solution: Check the security settings. This product can prevent the Autodesk Desktop Licensing Service from starting.
StopZilla Antivirus
Solution: Disable this product while installing the Autodesk product, and add the exceptions listed above. While running, this product can prevent Autodesk products from installing and cause Error 2731 messages.
Kaspersky (certain customized configuration)
Solution: Disable this product while installing the Autodesk software, and add Autodesk directories to its exception list. Note that this product will not cause problems while configured to its default standard setting, but some customized settings may prevent the proper creation of the Current folder in the location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdskLicensing.
Fortinet
Solution: Allow the subcategory Root.Certificate.URL (if using "Application Control" to block updates.Autodesk products verify the Certificate Revocation List during license authorization, which will fail if the list is blocked. See the Fortinet website for more information.
Quick Heal Total Security
Solution: Explicitly allow the actual versioned path of AdskLicensingService.exe (for example, C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdskLicensing\10.2.0.4231\AdskLicensingService\AdskLicensingService.exe in Total Security firewall rules. Note that adding the path with the "Current" junction will not resolve the issue. This product may block the access to Licensing Service port.
Blue Coat K9 Web Protection
Solution: Disable the drivers used by K9 (bckd and kckwfs), and restart your computer. This product can prevent communication to the Licensing Service. An alternative solutions would be to simply uninstall this product, which has been discontinued.
MacBooster and other Mac OS cleanup apps
Solution: Add Autodesk directories to exception list. These items remove localization resources from Agent bundle.
NetOp
Solution: Disable or uninstall. This product is not compatible with Autodesk products.
Trend Micro
Solution: Add Autodesk directories to the exception list. If the error persists, disable or uninstall this product. Note that this product may affect some Windows API call and can cause the License checkout timed out error when you launch your Autodesk product.
Netskope
Solution: Remove this item from start-up scripts. Netskope may prevent the Single-User or Sign In options from appearing in the Let's Get Started Screen during activation of a Single-User license.
Comodo Antivirus:
Solution: Uninstall this program before installing any Autodesk software. While this product is running, it can prevent some Autodesk products' installers from functioning, leading to the error message The system cannot open the device or file specified during installation.
Webroot
Solution: Disable or uninstall this product. Webroot can cause an Agent web socket connection issue and fire the error message ADLSDK_UPDATE_REASON_REGISTRATION_ERROR repeatedly.

Dell Docking Station
Solution: Install the latest drivers from Dell Support. If you're unable to update the drivers, remove the laptop from the docking station to to allow it to function again.
Kensington USB Video Dock
Solution: Disconnect the device when activating the Autodesk product.
HP Thunderbolt 3 dock
Solution: Open the Autodesk product before connecting your computer to the dock.
LogMeIn display adapter
Solution: Disable this product or reach out to LogMeIn Support for help.
