Saving is Taking Excessively Long or Causing CAD to Crash
Issue
Saving a drawing file is taking an extremely long time or even causing CAD to crash.
Cause
This issue is likely the result of a system variable called SAVEFIDELITY, which retains the visual fidelity of annotative objects so they can be seen and used in AutoCAD products from 2007 or earlier.
Solution
Type SAVEFIDELITY in the Command line and press Enter.
When prompted to enter a new value, type 0 and press Enter. The SAVEFIDELITY system variable will now be turned off.
The SAVEFIDELITY system variable will be saved in this installation of CAD only, and will need to be changed on every installation that is experiencing long saves and crashes, as well as implemented after each new installation of CAD.
