Install Land F/X for AutoCAD: University Lab
This guide provides instructions for college or university IT administrators to set up Land F/X in an AutoCAD workstation lab environment. Once you complete these instructions, you will have a Single-User Land F/X installation on each CAD workstation in your lab.
Read this first:
- Do you only need to set up Land F/X on one or two computers in your lab? If so, you can choose to use our academic installation instructions instead.
- Already have Land F/X installed in your lab? New academic year? Here's what to do.
Step 1: Prerequisites
To complete this installation, you will need:
Your lab-specific Land F/X Support ID*
* This will not be the same Support ID your students use for their home computers/laptops. You should have received this Support ID in an email from Land F/X. Don't see it? Email us at
Workstations in the lab with a compatible version of CAD (full or student license)
{jumi [*24]}Step 2: Install Land F/X
Install F/X Server on a test bed system using the installer file linked below.
Issues with domain or security restrictions?
Having trouble installing the software due to domain/security restrictions on the workstations? Use our manual university lab instructions instead. Note that we recommend submitting a ticket to our Support team first to find out whether your particular issue has a straightforward solution, but the manual steps will provide a workaround if required.
Step 2: Copy and distribute the LandFX folder
The installer will create a folder named LandFX in the location you choose. Copy and distribute this folder to all workstations in the lab where you want to install Land F/X.
Step 3: Configure the workstations to work with Land F/X and AutoCAD
Install the F/X Workstation component on each Land F/X workstation in the lab using one of the following methods:
- Use our new F/X Workstation setup steps, or
- Configure and deploy the silent workstation setup
Step 4 (if applicable): Install the Land F/X Plugins for SketchUp, Rhino, and/or Revit
If your lab uses 3D modeling software, download and install the Land F/X plugin for each of the following programs that will be used in your lab:
On a domain? Grant Modify access
If you're on a domain and not completing the F/X Workstation installation steps while logged in as the user who will be running the software, you will need to grant Modify access to the following directory and database file to the user or a Domain group that includes the user:
C:\ProgramData\LandFX\data\landfx.db
You can complete this step either manually or using Group Policy to push a startup script.
Checklist for Verification:

Already have Land F/X installed in your lab? New academic year?
You’ll just need to reactivate Land F/X on each workstation with your new lab-specific Support ID*.
