Power Tip: Cleanup Zoom Extents
August 20, 2016
Aside from drawing cleanup, perhaps the most important step to take with a drawing you receive from a colleague, consultant, or client – or any drawing, for that matter – is to Zoom to Extents. You might be surprised at what you find.
Zooming to the extents of your drawing can be a lifesaver if you’re trying to see your design's overall site limits. This step has an added benefit: It can help you find out whether your drawing includes rogue items hiding out in space that you can't see. Zooming to Extents in a drawing that includes these stowaways will often make it look as if your design has disappeared altogether. Make sure to go through and delete these errant objects and get back to your proper site limits. This handy little trick can save your sanity while helping you clean up your drawing.
