- Add details referenced in callouts
- Set numeric division for details
Adding a new detail with the "Copy details to a project folder" and "Set numeric division for details" options selected in the Preferences (16:25)
A copy of the detail will be added to the project's folder automatically, with the detail numbered according to the project number.
The detail will also be added to the project's folder in the Detail Explorer (18:45)
Why the "Copy details to a project folder" option is valuable (19:10):
- It forces staff to choose a detail folder.
- It ensures that any changes to the original standard detail won't change the details in older projects retroactively.
- It ensures that a user who edits a copy of a standard detail in a project will not change the actual standard detail.

Question: How can multiple offices access a shared a detail library without the details being accidentally changed and overwritten? (45:24)
Answer: We recommend keeping your standard details in the folder structure governed by CSI numeric divisions. You can even set those details to Read-Only for most users and only give certain users access to edit them. You can also use the option in the Details Preferences to keep the CSI number when saving details into the Projects folder structure.
Most large offices we work with are opting to copy their standard details into project-specific folders when using them in a project.
When you need to make an edit to one of your standard details, it's always a good idea to make a copy of that detail and save it as a new detail, no matter how small the changes.
