Getting Started with Planting F/X for Revit®
April 26, 2024
Presented by: Amanda Marin
There's never been a better time to start your journey with Revit and our Planting F/X plugin. This set of BIM planting design tools for landscape architects includes a database of more than 52,000 species, 1,000+ 2D and 3D symbols in ready-to-use families, automatic parameter management for families and plant areas on floors and toposolids, an automatic plant schedule creator, group labeling, and instant color render plans – all inside Revit. We'll present our roadmap for future development and show off some new features such as automatic rootball placement and some recent additions to our collections of families and label styles.

- Anybody placing a plant who wants the species, install size, and appearance to be more accurate and faster.
- Longtime Revit users needing more flexibility and a better symbol library.
- Landscape architects new to Revit.
- BIM managers with landscape design staff wanting to get them into Revit.
- A firm already using Land F/X in AutoCAD.

This year's goals:
- 2025 support (imminent as of presentation time).
- Recompiling for the big .NET8 change.
- .NET8 means: Modeless dialog boxes for a new feature we're cooking up!
- Type parameters for all plants (imminent as of presentation time).
- Big change – taking our time to get the switchover right.
- Our goals:
- Existing designs will not change from Instance parameters.
- Options to upgrade old designs to Type parameters.
- All new designs use Type parameters.
- Plant portfolio.
- Mix and match 2D and 3D symbols.
- Concept Plants & plant mixes.
- Hardscape (RefNotes) Manager with all our CAD hardscape hatches and your data.
6 months, 2025, and beyond:
- Design F/X Detail Manager in Revit.
- Detail system v2 already in the works to make AutoCAD details easily transferable to Revit.
- Generic content and manufacturer content.
- Families, hatches, and details.
- Boulders, benches, hammocks, etc.
- RefNotes amenities, lengths, schedules, callouts/tags.
