I have been creating my own plant labels, but I notice that whichever label I start using first in a project that the settings(background color, text style) seems to be set to that first label. If I select a new label to use in the same project, the size and shape change with no problem, but the background color or the text style doesn't change. I have even deleted all the labels in the drawing and even deleted the blocks associated with the ones I was using in the drawing and that doesn't seems to fix the problem. The program will not let me delete the layers that are associated with the plant labels. How can I get around this issue.
Thanks

I also want to mention that I used the REDINEBLOCK and this doesn't seem to change the background color or text style, unless there is another step that needs to be performed.

Pat,
Layers and Text Styles get defined in the drawing just like blocks, so the only way to change those items is either manually, or to PRG them from the drawing so they can get defined new upon insertion. Since your callouts are using the same layers and text styles, CAD is keeping those as first defined so it can speed up its performance.

I would try deleting all labels, purging the drawing fully by typing "PRG" into the commandline, then try to place the new label style.

Here is a good article that goes deep into Text style troubleshooting:
